As a reclaimed product from Welsh slate mines this product attracts a discount of 8p per pack over primary processed aggregates. This is reflected in the price.
Uses: Slate is our most distinctive and widely used landscape chipping. Suitable for paths and driveways where the slate will provide a long term durable surface. Also very suitable as a decorative mulch in situations where a more "chunky" appearance is required. As slate is inert it can be used in or near to stocked ponds, and will not alter the pH of soils.
Supplied as: 40 x 25kg packs or 20 x 25kg packs (1 tonne or 1/2 tonne) on a pallet. If you have ever shovelled slate into a wheel barrow you will appreciate that you will be rewarded by the ease of moving this pre-packed product, especially where the final location can only be accessed through a garage or house.
Size: Nominal 40mm, by which we mean the average size across the stone pieces is approximately 40mm (1.5 inches) but there will be pieces of stone down to 20mm size (3/4 inch) and up to 75mm (3 inches) long
Coverage Guide: 1 tonne covers approx 20 Sqm at 30mm depth, 1/2 tonne covers approx 10Sqm at 30mm depth.

Your Delivery: The delivery vehicle will have manual pallet truck facilities to offload your order onto a safe level hardstanding, however, please contact our office if you have specific delivery requirements or concerns.
Invoice / receipt: An invoice / receipt will be issued seperately from your delivery. Quoted prices include VAT at the prevailing rate. Aggregates tax is not payable on this item.
Notes: To increase the service life of the slate and help prevent weed growth we would recommend the use of a weed suppressant membrane between the soil or sub base and the slate.
The slate has been washed prior to packing, however, after laying the first shower of rain will reveal the true colour. This colour will be enhanced over a period of months as the stone takes on a clean patina.
Specify: 40mm Crushed Blue/Grey Slate from Specialist Aggregates or similar approved.
