Using Model Railway Nomenclature, Applications for Black Lava Analogue Include:
Real life examples rounded to nearest actual quarried sizes.

Z Scale (1:220): Real life 250 to 500mm broken stone, ie boulders in a size 100 to 400kg- Often referred to in the construction industry as "rip-rap" or stone scree. Use for modelling at small scale, river revetment, and drainage schemes. Texturally at this scale the product is an analogue for broken volcanic scoria or large ejecta. ( Google Icelandic eruptions 2023/24)

N Scale (1:148): Real life 150-300mm broken stone. ie boulders in a size 20 to 100kg -
TT Scale (1:120): Real life 75-250mm fragmented scorched concrete, stone pieces in a range of sizes from 20 to 100kg. Think Iceland, fields of broken volcanic scoria and cones of basaltic cinders.



OO/HO Scale (1:76): Real Life 75-150mm coal cobbles

The lightweight nature of our analogue reduces the weight needing to be pulled without compromising realism.

O Scale (1:43): Real Life 40-75mm crushed stone - Not a common size of stone used in the UK construction industry, except for hidden backfill to structures. However, our lava analogue can be effectively used at this scale to provide for a textured matt black stage base for film and image sets and gaming scenics.

G Scale (1:22): 20-40mm aggregate. Typically in the real world the size of aggregates used for land drainage, however, our analogue provides for accurate textural ground cover for large scale film and image volcanic scapes and gaming dioramas.

Colour & Form:
