Originators Note: Gravels for concrete are normally graded to 5-20mm size. At TT:120 Scale this would require gravel to be under 0.05mm in size. Sand would be even finer, at TT:120 Scale this would be similar in size to talcum powder.
Our wagon Load - Sand & Gravel is necessarily a compromise, it is graded fine enough to provide a visual impression but this creates a material that larger in grain size than a true analogue.
In the construction industry mixed sand and gravel is confusingly often referred to as ballast or "all-in" ballast, this has absolutely nothing to do with the broken stone ballast used to support railway sleepers. The double meaning of the term provides for mega-bites of on-line mis-information.
