What happened to Testa Teres?   Tuesday 10 October, 2017

Review of a former specialist shell render company.

Testa Teres, (Latin, Polished Shell): Formerly a high specification, and extremely effective insulation, polymer render, and recycled crushed shell pebble dashing system. The offices on Copse Road in Fleetwood Lancashire finally closed their doors at the end of 2014.

The system found favour both with Local Authorities, and for residential “park homes”. Its crushed shell based finish being specified to provide a waterproof and sympathetic finish in coastal locations.

Whilst Specialist Aggregates do not have the specifications for the render, they are in a position to supply crushed scallop, cockle, black pebbles and clear recycled glass for repairing and extending Testa Teres finishes.

Our images show the striking facade to the former offices in Fleetwood, together with a selection of render finishes achieved using crushed shells as the base for the pebble dashing.
